Wild Edibles FestivalPresented by the Calvin W. Price Appalachian Enrichment SeriesApril 19, 2014. The Wild Edibles is part of the Calvin W Price Appalachian Enrichment Series - an Experiential Travel Adventure! Experience the nourishing botanic biodiversity of our region! This event features instruction from Dr. Rebecca Linger, PhD assistance professor of the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy who will lead a session on wild ginger. Doug Jolley from the Dept. of Agriculture and Mike Smith from Droop Mountain lead nature walks, and Ross Weiseiger from the Lewisburg Farmers Market shares his knowledge about foraging for food. There will be a Cooking with Ramps workshop with Blair Campbell in the afternoon. Preparation of the wild edibles will be demonstrated prior to a potluck dinner at 5:00 p.m. Lunch available at the Pretty Penny Cafe in Hillsboro. The festival starts at 9:00 a.m. |
